Quebec will reopen shopping malls outside of Montreal starting next week as the province reached a grim milestone on Monday.
Premier François Legault confirmed that COVID-19 deaths have reached 4,069, an increase of 85 from the previous day. The respiratory illness has led to 47,984 infections, the highest in Canada.
“If we want to continue reopening, we must stay disciplined,” he said, urging people to keep up social-distancing measures.
Shopping malls will reopen on June 1, except in the Greater Montreal area. The decision comes as the province loosens restrictions aimed at curbing the spread of the virus.
